Hi! Give a brief history of Mind Terrorist, music style, and the members.
Hello Iron Backstage! We are Mind Terrorist, our origins are in Greece, however during the past years we became more international, as few of the band members are living abroad. We play a mix of different metal genres and we are active since 2011. We are mainly influenced from the Swedish Death Metal sound and bands like In Flames, The Haunted, At the Gates, moreover we are also into Hardcore and Metalcore (Hatebreed, As I Lay Dying as a reference). The band is consisted of 5 members, Kostas - lyrics, Zach and Thanos - guitars, Greg - bass and Orestis - drums. We have played numerous concerts and released four full length albums so far.
Give in more detail, some information about Spiritual Revolution and how well it sells?
Our latest album “Spiritual Revolution” is released 4 months ago and we are very happy and proud of the result. It contains nine new tracks, the limited digipak edition is sold out already and we are now distributing the normal CD edition. We are satisfied with the whole production process, it took long time because the album was recorded, mixed and mastered in four different countries. It is a concept album, referring to Spirituality and the revolt against globalization, modern civilization and consumerism. Mind Terrorist has signed with One People One Struggle Records, tell more about that?
We are collaborating with OPOS Records since our very beginning. They are professionals and we treat each other with respect and trust. The conditions of our collaboration are very good and we are really satisfied so far.
What is the difference between your latest and the very first records?
Our music style has definitely progressed throughout the years. While in the first two albums our base was more the modern heavy metal music, now we have added more crossover elements and touches of death and even black metal. This is mainly because of the change of the composer of the band during the last two albums.
What inspires Mind Terrorist music and lyric writing? What does Mind Terrorist lyrics talk about?
We prefer to write thematic albums, meaning that we would like to offer a complete story that the listeners of the album can relate to. We are mainly influenced from the social, political and economical situation around us. We write for human rights and human relations, the environment and the animals, the voiceless of this world, the "peaceful war" we are in during the last decades.
Do you play live often? Do you like abroad gigs?
Unfortunately and due to the fact that we live in different countries it is almost impossible to have a consistent live performance. Of course live concerts is something we really value, however we are selective due to the limitations we have.
How often does the band practice and work on new material?
We never practice together. We only do it on an indivudual level. It is the distance that made us adopt this setup. We have never met physically during the last 5 years, so you can imagine that the level of responsibility in order to record and release new material is really high and the circumstances extraordinary. Normally we write new material every 3 years approximately.
How did the band come up with the name Mind Terrorist and tell what does it means for you?
The name of the band came up as an instant thought. We wanted that our band name reflects our lyrics direction. Mind Terrorist is our statement in an era of lies, distorted realities and moral decay. It’s a statement of freedom of thought.
What does the band plan on doing in near time?
We are currently promoting our latest album and in December we are planning to release the LP edition. We will close the promotion cycle of "Spiritual Revolution" next year and then we will be back in the studio for a new album.
